Another year begins, and it has been a really hectic few weeks already! The WONCA Executive met in London for three days ( January 17-19) with a very full agenda, and many issues were discussed and debated.

December, 2013

Hong Kong anniversary celebrations, young doctors and ... we come to the end of the first full year of the WONCA Secretariat in Bangkok. It has been a busy and eventful year, with our first Executive and Council meetings, but we survived, and I’m sure will go from strength to strength.

This month I want to highlight WONCA’s Young Doctor movements and the fantastic work they are doing. These are the next generation of leaders of family medicine and of WONCA, and it is wonderful to see so much energy and enthusiasm – reassuring that the future of family medicine is safe in their hands.

At its June 2013 meeting in Prague, WONCA Council agreed to the proposal to introduce Life Individual Direct Membership.

August, 2013

Dr Garth Manning looks forward to future WONCA conferences and provides more information on Direct membership and the Montegut Scholarship programme.

April, 2013

April saw me in South Asia, and a visit to Delhi to take part in the National Conference on Family Medicine and Primary Care, organised by the Academy of Family Physicians of India (AFPI).

The conference venue is excellent, the keynote speakers are of the highest quality, the scientific programme is stimulating and Prague is juts a wonderful place to visit, especially in June, so we anticipate possibly the best WONCA World conference ever.
