4. Meeting community
needs
Each rural community has a unique environment, history
and economic base which influences the requirement for health care and the
skills which are needed by the health team.
While rural doctors have in the past almost always been
men, women are increasingly becoming rural doctors. It is important to increase
the flexibility of health services delivery models so that they reflect the
diversity of both the rural communities they serve, and the workforce providing
that service.
