The seven steps for developing Sustainable Healthy Villages can act as a catalyst for promoting the successful health and social care parterships between the urban/rural interface using health promotion principles, a community co-ordinator and an innovative primary care team.
Public health measures to ensure and constructive health and social needs assessment for community development must build on local support, financial credibility, a good organisation, knowledge of the community resources, good communication networks, a supportive project committee and regular audit.
Rural strategies for health and social care can be integrated in the urban setting. Many urban concepts can be integrated in the rual setting. Co-operation between urban and rural communities can show effective health outcome measures which will encourage Government funders to adopt models of excellence for rural and urban communities.
Healthy Communities use urban and rural models to form partnerships with government organisaitons, non government organisations, voluntary and private providers.
Examples will be given during the presentation of how these health promotion strategies can break down barriers between urban and rural communities.
