Bulding Students' Courage Bank: A force for change to listen, to learn and
to leave

Objectives :
- To awaken the students (Adolescent Youths) skilled development programme
for the youth
- leaders of District Health Resource Centre for effective implementation
of Health promotion at the rural & rural areas.
- To orient the student of higher schools and colleges regarding health promotion.
- To sensitize the youths to take part in health promotion.
- To create resource groups to sustain the awareness programme in each district.
Activities done :
- Intensive training on capacity building given to the district coordinators
on HIV/AIDS
- Orientation of the students and youths attending high schools and rural
college on health with emphasis on HIV/ADIS
- Advance course for core group members on HIV/AIDS & Health promotion
- Conducting the awareness programme on public health & HIV/AIDS by the
core-group members in schools & colleges level in 18 districts of West
Bengal.
- IEC promotion at the rural areas through the Dram & folk media.
Out reach:
- 1100 of schools & colleges and 100,000 of students has been coverd at
the rural & Urban areas of West Bengal
- 500 no. of Youths has been trained by our Resource Centre for the spread
health message at the rural areas
- 18 District Health Resource Centre has been developed in whole state of
West Bengal
- Most of the girls students & youths are involved in our programme
- Local Panchayat & others Govt. officials are involved in our programme
- Lots of appreciations, remarks, & requests have been received from the
different houses like schools, colleges, teachers, parents & govt. departments.
Impact:
- Youth is a creative force to bring a change in every walks of life to make
a healthy society. Thus skill development is very important and necessary
to achieve this goal. We believe in the idea to promote:
- Cross Country visit
- Exchange of cultural and health information with priority on rural health
- Village based Youth leadership development to sustain health programmes
- Social consciousness creation through the rural youth leaders
- Involvement of youth in the field of social work in the rural areas.
Lessons Learned :
- Tremendous response of the youths in rural & urban areas.
- Large numbers of girls students take the leadership to spread the health
promotional activities at the rural & urban areas.
- Parents & teachers participation to enrich the health promotional activities.
- Youth ability to organize the programme on HIV/AIDS & general health
in schools & colleges.
- Youth ability to run session & demonstrate ideas with in the schools
& colleges campus by their own.
- Youth ability to design health programmes and carry out interviews, study,
inter school contest etc.
