The
Fifth Wonca World Conference on Rural Health was a truly multidisciplinary,
truly international conference. Delegates world-wide, from all
health disciplines, from all cultures, were welcome at this conference.
Conference Outcome

Manifesto One
of the major outcomes of the conference was the development
of a proposal for submission to the Wonca executive, titled:
'A Code of Practice for the International Recruitment
of Health Care Professionals: The Melbourne Manifesto'
Australian
Delgates - RACGP has accredited the Conference
for 23 hours Group 2 & five hours Group 1 activities.
Application for approval for PDP points has been
made to ACRRM. North American delegates - AAFP has approved
14.5 prescribed & 2 elective credit hours.
Social Program
Bush
Dance & Aussie BBQ Thursday
night will see a country-style bush dance with a traditional
Australian flavour. Come along and enjoy the music of
the Boola Boola Band, dancing and good Aussie "tucker"

Education for Rural and Remote Medical Practice Townsville,
North Queensland - Saturday 4 to Sunday 5 May 2002 This
post-conference workshop will combine the attractions
of the tropical north with an interesting, student-driven
program that demonstrates the power of combining education
and workforce strategies for which there is research evidence.
Participants will be invited to join in an excursion to
the Great Barrier Reef called "Marine dangers in the tropics"
