The Fifth Wonca World Conference on Rural Health was a truly multidisciplinary, truly international conference. Delegates world-wide, from all health disciplines, from all cultures, were welcome at this conference.

One of the major outcomes of the conference was the development of a proposal for submission to the Wonca executive, titled: 'A Code of Practice for the International Recruitment of Health Care Professionals: The Melbourne Manifesto'
