A survey of medical graduates from Philippine Medical Schools was done. The survey was made use of pre-tested questionnaire. Questionnaires were distributed during various conferences of different medical organizations, sent by mail to leaders of various component medical organizations. It was self-administered by respondents. This survey showed that there were 64 % women respondents compared to 36% men ; 64 % are practicing outside of National Capital region. Most of the answers for reasons of practice were: place of residence, placer of origin, family consideration and convenience. The top specialty practice were: Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Surgery. The top reasons for choice of specialty were: Interest, service requirement and income consideration.
From this survey, the responses of those who opted to go into rural practice will be determined. Responses of men doctors will be compared with responses of female doctors as to age, location of practice and reasons for choice of location, specialty field practiced and reasons of choice, practice situation and continuing professional development activities.
