Michael
Boland
President
World Organization of Family Doctors
"The
priviledge of being healthy is the result of a large number of
determinants related to our way of living, working and relating
to each other and the cumulative contribution of several key actors
such as policy-makers, health managers, academic institutions,
health professions and civil society. It is essential that these
stakeholders share a common purpose and unite their efforts to
better serve the needs of people. The rural world, where the needs
are even greater to create such a unity of action, can also make
best use of its resources and demonstrate to the entire nation
the virtues of solidarity, partnerships and sound management"
Best wishes

"The
Melbourne Rural Health Conference will, like the previous World
Rural Health Conferences, provide us with opportunities to network
with rural colleagues from different-yet-similar situations all
over the world, proiding us with new insights and expanding our
horizons. At the same time, I believe it is important for rural
doctors from developing countries to attend - despite all the
funding problems - in order to be heard in such a forum, so that
the discussions are not dominated by the so-called first world,
and the major issues we face are also given atention"
Best wishes

Medical
Student, Young Australian of the Year 2001.
"In order
that the wishes we have for the health care provision in rural
areas are brought into reality it is essential that an impassioned
and unified voice is put forward. The broader the contribution
to this voice, the more power it will carry. So come along and
have your say at Wonca 2002"
Kind regards
James

Wonca rural conferences provide a unique opportunity for rural
doctors to share our common experiences, joys and frustrations.
The friendships that my wife and I have made at these conferences
will endure for ever. We both look forwards to renewing these
each year"
