JOIN US IN KUALA LUMPUR FOR THE 12TH ASIA PACIFIC REGIONAL CONFERENCE

On behalf of all my colleagues in the Academy of Family Physician of Malaysia, I extend to you a cordial welcome to our shores from 1-4 April, 2002 for the 12th Regional Conference of WONCA which will be in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I can assure you a very stimulating scientific program as well as an enjoyable social meeting.

The theme of the conference is "Towards Quality in the Practice of Family Medicine" . The scientific program will highlight such themes as evidenced based medicine and practice guidelines; community oriented primary care, information technology and internet; prevention and health promotion; managed care; women in medicine; and consumerism and patient rights. This conference will include workshops on practical procedures; hands-on ultrasound and emergency care. The topics chosen are relevant to the changes in health care and reflect the trends in the Asia Pacific region.

Malaysia is a stable country with friendly people and a wonderful location for tourists to visit. It has many interesting resorts in the "interior" and along its coastline, the scenic hills as well as its golden beaches. Comfortable and affordable hotel accomodations are close to the conference venue. Special programmes are arranged for accompanying persons and spouses, as well as post conference tours to other parts of Malaysia.
