Irish GPs Raise Funds for Zambian Hospice

A Zambian hospice for people dying from AIDS and an orphanage for their surviving children are to benefit to the tune of 27,000 Euro following the highly successful Song in my Heart CD recording project, which involved a number of Irish GPs.
Over 30 Irish doctors, mostly GPs, made a Band-Aid style recording of the Gene Pitney classic, "Something's Gotten Hold of My Health, late last year. The CD was distributed to all GPs and a number of other doctors around the country. Hundreds of doctors who received copies of the specially recorded CD donated to the Zambian hospice and orphanage, along with the project sponsors, Bristol-Myers Squibb.

"The funds raised through the Song in My Heart campaign will literally be a life-line for our work here", said Sr Eileen Keane, the Irish doctor who runs the Cicetekelo Home. She expressed her deep gratitude to the Irish GP community at the huge response to the fund raising project.
