What is an RSS feed?

RSS feeds are a mechanism to automatically update users as new content is added to a website.

The most useful definition of the acronym ‘RSS’ is ‘Really Simple Syndication’, as it provides a way of syndicating content of a site to other sites.

How to use this technology?

To consume this feed in Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2.0, click the above link and select 'Subscribe to this feed'. Alternatively, click the orange RSS symbol on the browser's task bar. Other RSS readers may have different methods for adding the feed, please check your help file for information.

IE7 and Firefox will then check the link daily enabling you to access new information about Wonca/GFD, Journal Alerts and Member Organisations, quickly and easily via you browser.

Can my Member Organisation (MO) use GFD's feeds or can GFD use my MO's?

GFD is also planning to consume more RSS feeds from external sites, such as Wonca Member Organisations and other resources like the WHO disease outbreaks site.

GFD welcomes RSS feeds from Member Organization websites to provide GFD readers with regular updates from these sites.

These cross site feeds will be implemented gradually over the coming year.

If are interested in using GFD's feeds on your MO's website, please email us!

If you have any MO content you wish to share on GFD, or have any queries, please contact the Webmaster.

The GFD Team.
