Important update: WONCA EMR Conference postponed to 2028
The WONCA Eastern Mediterranean Region Conference, originally scheduled to take place
in Cairo from 26-28 November 2026, has been postponed to 2028.
Further information, including revised dates and arrangements for existing registrations,
abstracts and accommodation, will be shared as soon as details are finalised.
WONCA EMR Conference - Important update
In light of the rapidly evolving regional situation and the heightened uncertainty affecting
travel, mobility and participation across parts of the Eastern Mediterranean Region, the
WONCA EMR Conference, originally scheduled to take place in Cairo in November
2026, has been postponed to 2028.
This difficult decision was taken with the safety and well-being of our colleagues,
participants, their families and the wider WONCA community as our foremost priority.
We deeply appreciate the commitment of everyone who has registered, submitted abstracts,
contributed to the scientific programme or made arrangements to attend. Please be assured
that the scientific and organisational work already undertaken will be preserved as far as
possible.
Further information regarding revised dates, existing registrations, abstracts,
accommodation and related arrangements will be shared as soon as details are finalised.
Our thoughts are with colleagues and communities across the region during this period of
uncertainty, and we look forward with hope to welcoming the WONCA community to Cairo in 2028.

About the conference
The WONCA Eastern Mediterranean Region Conference brings together family doctors,
primary care professionals, researchers, educators, trainees and health leaders from
across the Eastern Mediterranean Region and beyond.
Theme:
Solidarity in Primary Care: Bridging Innovation and Humanism for a Resilient Eastern Mediterranean.
The conference is organised with the
Egyptian Family Medicine Association and provides a regional forum for
sharing research, developing practical skills, building professional connections and
discussing the future of family medicine and primary care.
Registrations and abstracts
Participants who have already registered, submitted an abstract or made other arrangements
for the 2026 conference are asked to await further information from the organisers.
Details regarding the handling of existing registrations and payments, abstracts,
scientific contributions and other bookings will be communicated once arrangements
for the 2028 conference have been finalised.
Revised conference dates
The conference is now planned to take place in Cairo in 2028.
The exact dates will be announced when confirmed.
Previous deadlines and dates relating to the November 2026 conference should therefore
no longer be considered current.
