Leadership Programme for Women in Family Medicine: AWE-FM 2026

Leadership Programme for Women in Family Medicine: AWE-FM 2026

The University of Toronto's Department of Family and Community Medicine is inviting members of the WONCA community to take part in its annual leadership programme for women in family medicine, Advancing Women's Excellence in Family Medicine (AWE-FM).

Women increasingly make up the majority of the family medicine workforce worldwide, yet leadership development aimed specifically at junior women family physicians remains limited. AWE-FM is designed to help women emerging into leadership roles build the skills to advance the discipline, while working together on the challenges they share as emerging leaders.

About the programme

Participants learn through a mix of live discussion and self-paced study, moderated by faculty from the Department of Family and Community Medicine.

Who it is for
Current and emerging early to mid-career women leaders in family medicine from around the world.
Delivery
Hybrid, combining synchronous and asynchronous content. It uses a flipped classroom model, with weekly self-study and weekly live small-group discussion (90 minutes, moderated by DFCM faculty).
Live sessions
Thursdays, 8:00 to 9:30 AM EST: 15 and 22 October, 5 and 19 November, and 3 and 10 December 2026.
